Maintenance Officer - Adrian Hutton

Role Purpose

The maintenance officer ensures the club’s facilities are safe, clean, and welcoming for all. Their role is vital in maintaining the foundation upon which players, coaches, parents, and volunteers gather, train, and compete. By diligently caring for the club’s grounds, equipment, and infrastructure, the maintenance person helps uphold the FA Respect Code by creating an environment where respect, safety, and pride are part of daily life.

Role Responsibilities

  • Facility Upkeep: Carry out basic repairs and routine cleaning of clubhouses, changing rooms, toilets, and communal spaces to provide a hygienic and pleasant environment.

  • Safety Checks: Perform regular safety inspections of all facilities and equipment, addressing any issues promptly to reduce risks and maintain compliance with safety standards.

  • Supporting Events: Assist with the setup and takedown of pitches, marquees, and facilities for tournaments, community events, and fundraisers, working closely with the events organiser and club officials.

  • Waste Management: Ensure bins are emptied and waste is disposed of properly, contributing to a clean and environmentally responsible club.

  • Reporting and Communication: Report any significant maintenance concerns or hazards to club officials and suggest improvements for the upkeep of the club’s infrastructure.

  • Weather Management: Take necessary actions during adverse weather (e.g., clearing snow, spreading grit, or draining waterlogged pitches) to keep facilities accessible and safe.

  • Welcoming Attitude: support the positive spirit of the club and representing its values in every task undertaken.

The maintenance person’s commitment and attention to detail play a crucial part in the smooth running of the club. Their efforts enable players to perform at their best, parents to feel reassured about safety, and volunteers and staff to focus on supporting the club’s mission ensuring football remains accessible, fun, and safe for all.
