Behaviour Policy

Code of Conduct for Players and Parents

Our youth football club is committed to providing a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for all players, parents, coaches, and officials. The following behaviour policy sets out the standards expected from both players, parents and carers to ensure that everyone can enjoy and benefit from participating in football.

Players’ Code of Conduct

  • Respect your teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents at all times, both on and off the pitch.

  • Give your best effort during training sessions and matches, demonstrating commitment and enthusiasm.

  • Accept the referee’s and officials’ decisions without protest or argument.

  • Play fairly, abide by the rules, and avoid engaging in unsporting behaviour, including foul language or aggressive acts.

  • Encourage and support your teammates, regardless of the outcome of the match.

  • Arrive on time for training and matches, and inform your coach if you are unable to attend.

  • Take care of club equipment, facilities, and kit, and report any damage or loss promptly.

  • Listen to your coaches and follow their guidance to improve your skills and teamwork.

  • Represent the club positively at all times, including when using social media.

Parents’ Code of Conduct

  • Encourage your child to play by the rules and respect match officials’ decisions.

  • Promote fair play and praise effort, improvement, and good sportsmanship over winning at all costs.

  • Support all players on the team and avoid criticising or shouting at children for mistakes.

  • Show respect to coaches, officials, other parents, and opposition teams at all times.

  • Remain behind the designated spectator lines and never enter the field of play unless invited by an official.

  • Communicate with coaches in a constructive, respectful manner, raising concerns privately and calmly.

  • Ensure your child arrives on time for training and matches, and notify the club of any absences in advance.

  • Encourage your child to listen to their coach and act on their instructions.

  • Refrain from using inappropriate, offensive, or discriminatory language or gestures.

  • Uphold the club’s values and help create a friendly and inclusive football environment for all families.

Breaches of the Behaviour Policy

Any breaches of this behaviour policy may result in disciplinary action, including verbal warnings, discussions with parents, temporary suspension, or, in serious cases, removal from the club. The committee will deal with each case fairly and confidentially.

Commitment to Inclusion and Safeguarding

The club is committed to safeguarding all children and young people. Discriminatory behaviour, bullying, or harassment will not be tolerated under any circumstances. We encourage anyone with concerns to report them to the club’s Welfare Officer.

Policy Agreement

By joining our club, players and parents agree to uphold this behaviour policy and support our efforts to provide a positive football experience for everyone.
